Greco Proposes Memory-Care Facility in Edina

Greco is excited to announce a new proposal that aims to transform a long-vacant site in Edina into a much-needed memory-care facility, aligning with the city's vision for thoughtful, community-focused development.

Located at 6016 S. Vernon Ave., the former Kevin Kee's Auto Service site has remained unused since 2021. Over the years, several redevelopment proposals—including plans for a café, donation center, and takeout pizzeria—were rejected by the Edina City Council, primarily due to misalignment with the city's comprehensive plan.

Greco's current proposal envisions a three-story, 20-unit memory-care facility designed to serve seniors with cognitive needs. Each studio apartment would be approximately 372 square feet. The facility would include 20 surface parking stalls, a commercial kitchen, therapeutic spaces, common areas, and an outdoor patio. Importantly, this proposal aligns with Edina's comprehensive plan, potentially easing the approval process.

"This new neighborhood development will give more people the opportunity to age in a community near their family and friends," said Greco President Josh Brandsted. "The proposal reflects the goals of the City of Edina's comprehensive plan and is similar in scale to existing adjacent housing developments."

Bloomington-based Kaas Wilson Architects is collaborating with Greco on the design. The proposal is scheduled for review by the Edina Planning Commission on April 30 and the City Council on May 6.

Greco remains committed to engaging with community members and city leaders to ensure the project meets local needs and expectations.
